My name is Ilona Schong, and I live in Bergen op Zoom, the Netherlands. I originally studied law and graduated from Leiden University. For many years, I worked as a lawyer specializing in administrative, energy, and construction law, published articles, and appeared in court or before the Council of State wearing my robe.
But I’ve also always enjoyed being creative. Even back in the days of analog photography, I took courses and could often be found in the darkroom. I developed my rolls of film in a makeshift, taped-off bathroom in our first house. In photography, I found a way to express myself, separate from the business and legal context in which I worked. My love of travel and nature, along with my interest in people’s stories, are an important source of inspiration for me.
One of my dreams is to self-publish an artistic photo book that brings together my work and my vision. Over the next few years, I’ll be working behind the scenes to make that dream a reality.
In addition to my personal photography projects, I am available as a freelance project photographer. I help companies showcase their projects, products, services, or organization in a professional yet personal way.
